Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture

How does it work?

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture is a natural and effective way to look and feel young. Based on the principles of Chinese Medicine, it involves the insertion of hair-thin needles into acupuncture points on the face, ears, neck, hands, body, and legs. Points are chosen according to the individual's needs and a Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture treatment will affect the face but can also simultaneously address the underlying factors contributing to the aging process.

Treatment can improve muscle tone and dermal contraction especially in the face and neck. Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture increases collagen production and aids in its dispersal thus helping to firm the skin and fill out wrinkles. The increased circulation of blood, lymph, and Qi to the head will also help improve the complexion, reduce blemishes and tighten the pores. Stress and habitual expressions often so visible on the face can be transformed, resulting in a younger, calmer, and less worn looking face with which to meet the world.

In 1996 the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture reported that in a clinical trial 90% of 300 cases treated with Facial Acupuncture, showed marked improvements after one course of treatment.

What happens during treatment?

Following the initial consultation and treatment which lasts a little over an hour, treatments will be 45 minutes long and needles are placed in the relevant areas of the body and face, to address any specific issues such as drooping skin, jowls and lines. Each session ends with facial acupressure or facial massage and most people find the treatment very relaxing.

Are there any risks?

Facial acupuncture is a safe treatment. There is a minor risk of local bruising, which should disappear within a few days. However this treatment is not appropriate for those who are pregnant, or who suffer from frequent migraines or high blood pressure.

How many sessions will I need?

As for body acupuncture, each person will respond differently depending on his or her condition and lifestyle and although a single treatment can be beneficial, a course of 6 to 12 treatments (depending on the individual) is required to see a more substantial and longer lasting change. Following the initial course of treatment, monthly maintenance treatments can prolong the results.
